Lorraine Reguly Interview

Lorraine Reguly is one of the 25 most successful copywriting experts.

And she works her wizardry with words

Lorraine BA/BEd, is an author and English teacher-turned-freelancer for hire.

So, without any further ado let's reveal some of the exclusive secrets about freelancing and entrepreneurship from a BIG name in freelancing world.

Shakir: Lorraine please introduce yourself to my audience.

Lorraine: Hi. I’m not sure where to begin, because I am so many things, to so many people!

From a business standpoint, I am a writer, an editor, a certified English teacher, a coach/consultant, and an author assistant. This last one means I help other people become published authors.

I am an author, too. So far, I have two books to my name – Risky Issues and From NOPE to HOPE: How I Overcame My Suicidal Thoughts (and How You Can Too).

I am also the owner of Wording Well, where I offer 4 services and give out FREE information for writers, bloggers, and freelancers on my blog.

Shakir: How did you get started with blogging and freelancing?

Lorraine: I started blogging in 2013, as a way of making a name for myself. I wanted to become an author and I had learned that all authors, nowadays, are expected to promote their works on social media and on their websites.

I began blogging on a free platform called WordPress.com and blogged about my life experiences for about a year. I also blogged about the things I learned that made me a better blogger.

During that first year, I also did a lot of guest posting. One of the website owners liked my writing style so much that he offered to pay me to write a post for his blog every month. That’s how I got into freelance writing.

I had written several posts that ended up ranking on the first page of Google, so I moved everything to a hosted site and started a business called Wording Well.

Shakir: How do you help other business owners as a freelancer?

Lorraine: I help them in many ways! I write articles for them to publish online. I edit blog posts for them. I mentor them and coach them.

I also help them become authors. Entrepreneurs and other business owners have learned that there are many benefits to becoming an author. In fact, those benefits are revealed in the post I just published: Why Becoming an Author Can Help Your Business (and How to Become One, Easily!)

Shakir: What’s your thought on copywriting in 2020? Any specific tips for newbies?

Lorraine: In my opinion, if you are writing something that is going to be published online, the only things you need to remember is to write for your reader and make whatever it is you are writing be packed with value.

Wording Well has a ton of writing, blogging, and freelancing tips for everyone, which can be found (by category) on the Resource Kit page.

There are also some freebies and downloadables there!

Shakir: What changes did you find in your life after you started blogging?

Lorriane: My self-confidence grew. The more I shared stories about my personal life, the more others started to see me as someone who was “inspirational.”

I also started earning money, which was nice!

Shakir: What are the limitations of blogging that you experienced personally?

Lorraine: I am not very techie, and so the technical aspects of owning and running a website often frustrate me. I hire others to help me when I have problems in this area.

However, I have learned to do a lot of things on my own, simply from reading things online and watching tutorials.

When I get stuck, sometimes my friends help me, too. (For free!)

Shakir: If you were to start all over again, what would you do differently?

Lorraine: Although each person’s journey is their own, and I am basically happy with my individual journey, if I had to start all over again, I would definitely create more passive income streams RIGHT AWAY, instead of waiting years to do that.

I would create e-books and courses, and I would create funnels from each, too, to more paid products.

Shakir: Who are your 3 favorite bloggers?

Lorraine: My three favorite bloggers are Neil Patel, Elna Cain (who I actually know in real life), and… myself!

Shakir: How are you currently making money from your freelance business?

Lorraine: I am doing a lot of editing for others and helping them become authors.

However, I have a lot of income streams now, which I reveal in The Essence of Blogging (+ How to Earn Money Online).

Shakir: What’s the best advice YOU ever got on how to succeed online?

Lorraine: I actually didn’t receive any advice about how to succeed online. Everything I know and have done, I have figured out for myself.

My advice to others is to be authentic, helpful, and have a positive mindset.

The topic of success is one I am passionate about and I wrote a series of posts on this.

My favorite two are:3 Ways to Change Your Mindset and Become More Successful and How to Succeed Even When You Feel Like Giving Up.

Shakir: What else you like to do in your daily routine other than blogging?

Lorraine: I am a laid-back type of person now. I enjoy staying home a lot and being alone.

I like reading, writing, and watching TV sitcoms and dramas.

I also like spending time with my family, and playing cards with my mom and dad.

Shakir: Do you have any suggestions for others regarding their career and blog?

Lorraine: Where do you see yourself in 5 years from now?

Do you see yourself earning a good living from blogging, and devoting your life to it?

If not, then consider other things to do.

I’ve been blogging since 2013, and even though I like certain things about it, I don’t think it is something I will be doing for the rest of my life.

For now, it’s what I enjoy doing. I like the freedom that my life has.

My best advice to you is to find something you LOVE doing. That way, as the old saying goes, “You’ll never have to work a day in your life!”

Shakir: How can readers get in touch with you?

Lorraine: My preferred methods of communication are Facebook Messenger and email.

My Contact page on Wording Well has my emails and social media profiles listed on it.
